Two Carolina family-run bulb farms are offering special discounts for simple Thanksgiving day projects. National garden media often says bulb planting time is coming to a close. But in the South, its just starting. I plant all bulbs right into January. But the warm November days are a great time. Order a few things now, to have on hand for a fun Thanksgiving weekend project.

Order from the clearance sale at Terra Ceia Bulbs

Water in with a liquid fertilizer, or make your own

Save coffee grounds and salad trimmings in a bucket. Add about a gallon of filtered water. Soak over night or for a few nights. Then, squish down, then squeeze all the water out of the veggies and the remaining liquid is your fertilizer. To make it a little better, add two tablespoons of Epsom salts, or 2 tablespoons of Molasses– you can get at the grocery for less than $3.

Buy and plant elephant garlic from your grocery produce section
