Marianne's Response

Moving a just-planted shrub

This week some helpers planted for me. My Rose of Sharon was planted too close to a walkway. I need it to be about a foot away from where it is. Is it OK to move it now or should I let it rest over winter and move it in the spring? It had been in a good sized pot.

Marianne's Response

It would be better to wait until spring. Most shrubs can be transplanted in fall, winter or spring but when plants are a bit tender such as the Rose of Sharon hibiscus it is safer to wait until the winter has passed before you perform the transplant operation. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
