Spider plants

How do you re-root a cutting from a spider plant?

Marianne's Response

Spider plants are among the easiest houseplants to root. Just snip off the umbilical cord that connects the baby plant to mother and sit the bottom of the new plant in a glass of water. In a few weeks new roots will form (keep adding water to the glass as it evaporates) and you can pot the rooted cuttings into fresh potting soil in small pots. Once the cuttings are placed into soil you can fertilize with a slow release plant food such as Osmocote. Newly rooted cuttings are sensitive to high amounts of strong fertilizer so to avoid burning the new roots  don't feed with liquid plant foods until well established. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
