Marianne's Response

When apply Osmocote in my area?

Instructions on the package say to apply every 6 months so the next application would be now. Should I apply it now & in the same dosage as I would in the spring even though the growing/blooming season is nearing it’s end? Thank you.

No, I suggest you wait until spring to apply any fertilizer to your plants. The shorter days of winter encourage plants to slip into dormancy and this is nature's way of giving them a rest. Osmocote is a slow release plant food that is released only when the soil warms and there is moisture enough for plant growth. This is why Osmocote is said to provide nutrients only when your plants need them. During cold weather no nutrients would be released from the Osmocote granules so wait until spring.
