Today's Topic:

Hi Marianne, can you recommend the best fertilizer for me? I use Osmocote in my planters and am really happy with it. I like how it is controlled release and never burns my plants. Now I need a recommendation for my garden soil, for shrubs, trees and perennials. I had a soil test done and it showed that my soil (sandy loam, pH around 6.3) is excessive in phosphorus, low in potassium, medium in calcium and magnesium and very low in nitrogen. I don't really understand all these things but I hope it will tell you what you need to know. I am adding compost to my soil but I can tell by my plants that they need more than that. Thank you!
