Agapanthus

Are agapanthus plants evergreen?
Do they multiply on their own?

Marianne's Response

Some agapanthus are evergreen in warm climates, some disappear over the winter when it is cold then resprout in the spring. The globe-like blooms appear in summer and this perennial plant likes full sun to partial sun and requires little to regular water. The fleshy rhizome roots are similar to bulbs and they will multiply on their own if given the right conditions. Good drainage is key. One more attribute of lily-of-the-Nile or agapanthus - those beautiful blue or white blooms attract butterflies. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
