Grass cutting

Just read your article on keeping cool in the garden and I have to disagree with point # 6-
“8. Mow high. …. Let your grass grow to three inches high, than remove one third from the top so the blades are still 2 inches tall.”
That is not high enough. Maybe you are talking about warm season grasses. I live in Atl and if I cut my fescue at 2 inches, I’d kill it and encourage lots of weeds. During the heat of summer it is 4 inches minimum. And sometimes I let the backyard go for a few wks without cutting.

Thanks for the feed back. You are correct in that I live in the Pacific Northwest so our climate is cooler than yours. I will defer to your local experience and I should have made clear that my lawn care tips were for our NW region. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
