I recommend using a mix or blend of different types of grass seed picked for the climate in your area. In local home stores and nurseries Scotts has a NW seed blend that does well. Proper soil prep for seeding and keeping the soil moist as the seeds germinate will give best results. The newer grass seeds that are more drought tolerant are worth the money. When it comes to grass seed you get what you pay for so avoid the less expensive "playground" blends of grass seed. Good luck on your reseeding project and I see a thick green lawn in your future.
