Marianne's Response

Unknown eating rinds of my Meyer Lemons.

My Meyer lemon rinds are eaten off. What could be doing it and how can I stop it from happening again?’

Marianne's Response

Looks like a rat, squirrel or other rodent to me but depending where you live it could be anything from an armadillo to a wombat. I suggest a cage baited with lemons to find out the culprit. Or you could ask the locals who will be more familiar with local wild life. A motion detector with a bright light could help you to catch the culprit in the act. You did not mention if this happens just to fallen fruit or fruit still on the tree. Birds could also be stripping the rind....or a chef in search of lemon zest. At least you can still make lemonade.
