White & Green on Raised Veggie Beds

I have 2 raised veggie gardens outside on top of my lawn, drainage should not be an issue.
However i saw sections of a white substance along the top of my nice expensive dirt on one bed that has not yet been planted, “and ” a dark green dry film over the top of another bed that I have lettuce and beets in.
What’s going wrong?

Sounds like you filled your beds with rich, organic soil and then rainfall or your own overhead watering has trapped moisture on top of the soil. The growth sounds like harmless algae and mold so work this into the soil. If your soil is heavy and damp add some wood chips, sand or Perlite to lighten it up.  You may also be overwatering.
